The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is committed to helping prevent livestock and equipment theft in our jurisdiction. Our HEART Program has been designed as a theft-prevention tool where Brazos County residents have the ability to register livestock and agricultural equipment with the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office.
Program Details
- Livestock and equipment can be registered into the program for each location or property containing livestock or equipment that is owned or leased by the participant.
- Each participant can receive one placard for each property that equipment or livestock is registered at.
- The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office will affix the participant’s unique HEART ID number on each of their placards and post it outside of the participant’s property, in a visible location, such as gates, fences or other entryways to their owned or leased properties to show participation in the program. HEART ID numbers will begin with 021-, Brazos County’s State ORI number.
- The unique HEART ID number can be placed on equipment as an owner applied number to help with identification should the equipment be stolen. Participants can also place the HEART ID number on the ear tags of their livestock to help with identification by law enforcement. Should a participant’s livestock get loose, law enforcement can use the HEART ID number to locate the participants contact information to notify them of the loose livestock.
- During registration, you will begin by putting in your contact information. As you answer questions that pertain to what you are registering, the form may expand. If assistance is needed with registration, please contact Non-Emergency Dispatch, (979) 361-3888 and ask to speak to a Livestock Deputy; a Deputy can talk you through it or meet with you to help you through the process.
- For livestock, each location you have livestock at will be a separate entry in the registration form (just click the “add” button). Each entry will contain the location, types of livestock on the property, owned/leased, and you can list tags, brands or other markings your livestock may contain, and then add pictures of your brand if you have one.
- For equipment, there will be a separate entry for each piece or type of equipment being registered. Fill out as much information as you can regarding the registered equipment, including uploading pictures of the equipment. We suggest adding pictures that will show the overall view of the equipment, VIN or S/N plates, license plate, photos of damage or unique identifying characteristics of the equipment. There is an additional space for adding owner applied numbers or identifiers and pictures of these as well.
- NOTE: You will not be able to access the registration page again after submission, so before beginning the registration process, you will need to have all pictures available for upload that you would like to add, such as any brands you have on livestock, pictures of equipment (overall view, front, sides and rear view, VIN, S/N plates, license plates and any unique features or damages on equipment) or any Owner Applied numbers that you marked your equipment with.
- After submission, any changes to the registration will have to be sent to Sgt. Brian Bachmeyer of the Livestock Division at the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office. Updates to your registration can be sent to bbachmeyer@brazoscountytx.gov
- Should mass communication be necessary among participants, email addresses will be utilized for communication.
